Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Warning: As a precaution, wait at least 15 minutes in case of accidental airbag deployment. This time is necessary for the capacitor charge to dissipate.
2. On right-hand drive models, remove the driver's side lower fascia trim (chapter 11, paragraph 29). On left-hand drive models, the front panel must be removed to access the unit (Chapter 11).
3. Disconnect the electrical connector. To do this, press the two-section locking handle to the side, the first section disconnects the connector plug, and the second releases the connector socket from the control device (see Fig. 29.3).
4. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the unit.

5. Installation - in the reverse order of removal.
