Sensor based parking system

This system has been installed on production models since 1997 by order. The system is based on ultrasonic sensors and is designed to prevent collisions when reversing parking.

The system comprises four sensors installed in the rear bumper, a buzzer/display unit installed in the C-pillar trim panel, and an electronic control unit installed in the luggage compartment on the left under the trim panel.

The system only functions when reverse gear is engaged. The display and the buzzer warn the driver of a possible collision with an object in the path of the vehicle when it is reversing.

The system sensors can be removed after removing the bumper (chapter 11), buzzer/display unit - after removing the C-pillar trim panel (chapter 11, paragraph 29), and the electronic control unit - after removing the trim panel in the luggage compartment on the left.
