This system is installed on models produced since 1997 by order. The system is based on ultrasonic sensors and is designed to prevent collisions when reversing.
The system comprises four sensors mounted in the rear bumper, a buzzer/display unit mounted in the rear pillar trim panel and an electronic control unit mounted in the left luggage compartment under the trim panel.
The system only functions when reverse gear is engaged. The display and buzzer warn the driver of a possible collision with an object in the vehicle's path when reversing.
The system sensors can be removed after removing the bumper (chapter 11), buzzer/display unit - after removing the rear pillar trim panel (chapter 11, paragraph 29), and the electronic control unit - after removing the trim panel in the luggage compartment on the left.
