This system is optional on later models and uses radio signals from Global Positioning System satellites and an electronic map of the area stored on an optical disc to determine the vehicle's location and course.
The system receives information about the vehicle's location from satellites via an antenna. Using signals from the ABS wheel sensors, the system determines the distance traveled. The system also includes a compass. The CD changer communicates between the navigation unit and the display located on the audio unit.
The navigation unit reads an electronic map of the area from an optical disc, and also processes data received from an antenna, wheel sensors, a compass, and provides instructions on the display.
Generation 1 or 2 systems (RNS 1.2) are supplied, which also differ in the arrangement of components. In case of system malfunctions, it is necessary to contact the dealers.
