The anti-theft system provides protection against unauthorized entry into the vehicle; the system is controlled by the central security module (CSM).
Turning on the system
The system is activated by the keyless entry remote transmitter if the following sequence of actions is performed:
- 1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the ignition key.
- 2. Close all doors (unlocked).
- 3. Press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter to lock the doors. The turn signal lights will flash once.
- 4. If the turn signal lights do not flash, the system is not activated.
The system is also turned on if the following sequence of actions is performed:
- 5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the ignition key.
- 6. Close all doors (unlocked).
- 7. Lock the doors with a regular key.
Disabling a triggered system
The system can be disabled by performing one of the following procedures.
- Unlock the front door with the key.
- Unlock the front door by pressing the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
System activation
If the system is activated, the direction indicators will flash and the anti-theft system will sound.
When the system is enabled, unauthorized entry into the vehicle without the use of a key or keyless entry transmitter is detected by a switch operated by the passenger door latch, the rear liftgate latch, the trunk lid latch, or the hood latch. The system is also activated when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position and when the audio unit is disconnected.
The anti-theft alarm system will not activate when the rear liftgate or trunk lid is opened with the key or keyless entry remote transmitter due to the operation of the lock switch.
Disabling a triggered system
Performing any of the following actions will disable the activated anti-theft system.
- Unlocking the driver's door or front passenger door with the key.
- Pressing the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
When the system is triggered, the anti-theft alarm will automatically turn off after 30 seconds, the turn signal lamps will turn off automatically after 5 minutes. The system will then reset to the on state, and the system will be triggered again if another break-in attempt occurs.
