Removal


WARNING: To prevent the risk of accidental deployment, the Supplemental Restraint Control Module (RCM) backup power must be discharged. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before attempting any repairs or adjustments to the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) or any component(s) adjacent to the SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions could result in personal injury.


WARNING: To minimize the risk of premature air bag deployment, do not use the radio key code storage devices when working with the supplemental restraint system. Failure to follow this instruction could result in personal injury.


WARNING: Never touch the tester probes to the electrical connectors of the air bag modules or any other component of the supplemental restraint system. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.


1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Section 414-01 for additional information.

2. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12.

3. Disconnect the restraint control module (RCM) electrical connectors.

3. Disconnect the restraint control module (RCM) electrical connectors.

NOTE: The RCM is connected to ground via mounting bolts.




Remove the RCM module.

Remove the RCM module.


Installation


WARNING: Make sure the RCM is installed correctly as described. The mounting bolts are part of the RCM ground circuit. Failure to follow these instructions could result in personal injury.


WARNING: Never touch the tester probes to the electrical connectors of the air bag modules or any other component of the supplemental restraint system. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.


1. To install, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.

WARNING: The new Restraints Control Module (RCM) must be configured after installation. Failure to follow this instruction could result in personal injury.


If you are installing a new RCM, configure the RCM using the WDS system.
