Focus - the choice of a sober-minded person

The price-oriented variant is available exclusively as a three-door with a 1.4-litre Zetec-SE engine (55 kW/75 hp). The desire to enrich the basic Focus with additional equipment can only be fulfilled to a very limited extent. The Focus consistently focuses - entirely in the spirit of a decent price - on the essential. In keeping with Ford's tradition, the "essential" is generously provided (see standard equipment), but this does not include a full-size spare wheel.

Focus Ambiente - the first choice for comfort-oriented buyers

Apart from the sports suspension, the comfortably designed Ambiente basically offers the same equipment level as the Trend. Ambiente buyers get their Focus exclusively with five doors. As an alternative drive, Ford offers the Zetec-SE engine with a displacement of 1.4 litres (55 kW/75 hp), the Zetec E with a displacement of 1.8 litres (85 kW/115 hp) and two new turbodiesels with a displacement of 1.8 litres and 55 kW (75 hp) or 66 kW (90 hp). Both engines work according to the DI principle. Buyers can distinguish the Ambiente externally by the spelling of its name; otherwise, it differs little from the Focus and Trend models.

Focus Trend - the choice of sports drivers

The Focus Trend lives up to its name - the Trend variant is currently the best-selling model. In addition to the extensive standard equipment, including a cleverly tuned sports suspension, Trend buyers can choose between two special Trend packages: Trend 1 has 6 J x 15-inch alloy wheels including 195 tires, fog lights, adjustable instrument panel lighting and a third headrest on the rear seat backrest. Trend II has 6 J x 16-inch alloy wheels and 205/50 R 16-inch tires.

Focus Chia - the choice of buyers who prefer paid luxury

Ghia is in line with Ford's luxury standards: Ghia, in the Focus example, means Ambiente with a plus: for example... climate control... electrically heated and adjustable exterior mirror, painted in the same colour as the car, chromed interior door handles plus... a two-tone instrument panel. Externally, Ghia customers recognise the top Focus model by its flourishes, the chrome strip on the front bumper, the typical Ghia wheel trims, the chromed boot handle and, when the doors are open, the entry strips with the Ghia emblem.



But even the first glance into the interior speaks of a noble version: Ghia pampers the eye with wooden appliqués on the dashboard, doors and center console. A leather-covered steering wheel with four spokes crowns the workplace. The seats have velor covers, the driver's seat - with adjustable spine support - also with electrically adjustable height. The backrest of the rear seat, folding in a ratio of 1/3 to 2/3, is divided into two comfortable individual seats by an intermediate armrest if necessary.

Focus Ghia buyers are spoiled not only by its appearance, but also by its practicality: they open their car by pressing a button using a remote control.

Focus Turnier - The Choice of Practical Buyers

Including the entry-level 1.4-litre Focus, Ford combines the practical Tumier with all trim levels, all engines and automatic transmissions. Exception: the Blitz-Turnier with a 2.0-litre Zetec-E engine and Ambiente trim is not available at any price.

Selection program - types of special equipment

Focus buyers are freed from the factory from the agony of choice: not all possible special equipment options can be combined within the engine classes and equipment levels. For example, both comfort equipment option packages or heated windscreen washer sprayers including a heated windscreen are only available in the Trend version. The safety equipment package and the exterior design also remain an unrealizable dream for Focus buyers, not to mention the winning Trend I, Trend II or Tumier package. But the Focus has a non-smokers' package with a storage pocket instead of an ashtray and a power outlet instead of a cigarette lighter. Only the Ghia retains the on-board computer with fuel consumption, time and mileage data, as well as an outside temperature indicator and a frost warning light. With different choices, it is worth comparing prices in an accessory store. For example, with regard to the trailer coupling or roof rack systems with different attachments. However, it is better for Focus buyers to order the basic support system from Ford dealers: in this case, the required safety base will be provided for subsequent add-ons - at least with professional installation.
