Changes in car design from 1990 to February 1993

This section covers changes introduced to Ford Sierra vehicles with four-cylinder petrol engines from model 1990 to February 1993.

Models 1990

In September 1989, a new version of the equipment called Laser was introduced, in which, to the equipment of the GL version, high beams, GT-type wheel trims, tinted windows, black framing of the side windows and a tachometer on the instrument cluster were added.

In February 1990, the appearance of the car was subjected to some modifications. In the front part of the body of all cars, an open air supply hole to the radiator and white front direction indicators have been introduced; decorative wheel caps of a new type have also been introduced. At the rear, Berlin and sedan cars have a black stripe connecting the new darkened taillights.

In addition, for all Ford Sierra vehicles:

• excluded from the offer of the GT and S versions;
• GLS and CLX equipment version introduced;
• production of a three-door coupe body was discontinued.

Models 1991

No significant changes have been introduced.

Models 1992

In July 1991, the CL equipment version was excluded from the offer of the combi body. All models introduced: minor changes to the front panel, power steering system (except CL version), electric front side window lifts, driver's seat height adjustment, body-coloured bumpers on the GL and Ghia equipment versions and partly also on the CL and CLX versions. Also added to the GL version are chrome bumpers, side trims, a manual sunroof, rear headrests and central locking. The Ghia version introduced electric lifts for the side windows of the rear doors. Since then, this equipment has also been offered for combi vehicles.


From January 1992, the GT version is equipped with body-coloured bumpers, spoiler and rear-view mirrors; for versions equipped with engines with fuel injection, wheel rims made of light alloy have been introduced.

Models 1993

At the end of January 1993, sales of all versions of Ford Sierra cars were discontinued.
