Tire tread depth check

            0

Tires of balanced wheels at prescribed air pressure. correct installation of wheels and good depreciation wear evenly over the entire tread surface. In the event of uneven tire wear, refer to fault diagnosis in chapter "Tires". In general, it is difficult to accurately determine the service life of tires, because. it depends on the specific operating conditions of the car, namely:
  • Highway surfaces.
  • Tire pressure.
  • Driving manners.
  • weather conditions.

Strong tire wear contributes primarily to high-speed driving, abrupt starting and strong braking.

Attention! Traffic rules allow tire wear only up to a profile depth of 1.6 mm, i.e. the profile relief along the entire tread must be at least 1.6 mm. However, for safety reasons, it is recommended to change the tires already at a profile depth of 2 mm.

If the profile depth approaches 1.6 mm, then there is no more profile in these places, and the tires should be replaced soon.

Attention! M+S tires perform well in snow and ice if they have a minimum profile depth of 4 mm.

Attention! Examine the tires for cuts and use a small screwdriver to measure the depth of the cuts. If the cuts reach the frame, then as a result of the penetration of moisture, corrosion of the steel cord occurs. In this case, the tread can separate from the carcass, and the tire breaks. Therefore, in case of deep cuts in the tread, for safety reasons, replace the tire.
