Brake Fluid Replacement

Required special tool:

• Overhead wrench for bleed screws.
• It is necessary to have in stock: brake fluid specification DOT4, SUPER DOT4 or FORD SAM-6C-9103-A, ESD-M6C57-A.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture through the pores of the brake hoses and the vent in the supply tank. As a result, the boiling point of the brake fluid decreases over time. If the brakes are heavily loaded, this can cause steam to form in the brake pipes, resulting in poor system performance.

Brake fluid should be changed every two years, preferably in the spring. If you drive frequently in mountainous areas, change the brake fluid at shorter intervals. Changing the brake fluid is described in clause 15.11.
