Bleeding the brake system and replacing brake fluid (Fiesta 2)

A special device is required to bleed the brake system. The same device is used to replace the brake fluid. The traditional method of bleeding the brake system by using the brake pedal is unacceptable. Since this overloads such an important element for traffic safety as the main brake cylinder.

Connect the bleeding device to the expansion tank (Fig. 6.15).

Build up pressure in the brake system.

Connect a clear plastic container with a clear plastic hose to the brake bleeder nipple.

Open the bleed nipple and watch the brake fluid flow out. As soon as air bubbles stop appearing in it, close it by screwing the bleed nipple back on.

Disconnect the tube from the expansion tank. Check the tightness of all bleed nipples and put on the covers.

Bring the brake fluid level in the expansion tank to normal.
