The handbrake is self-adjusting.
To adjust the handbrake lever travel, press the main brake pedal, leaving the handbrake lever free. If this procedure does not bring the desired result, i.e. the handbrake lever travel does not decrease, then the brake shoe adjusters require checking. In this case, it is necessary to remove the brake drums, clean and wash the rear brake shoe system.
At the same time, it is also necessary to clean the rear brake shoe clearance adjusters. It will be useful to familiarize yourself with the contents of the subsection on replacing the handbrake cable.
