Loosen the brake shoe clearance adjuster through the holes in the brake shield (Fig. 6.4).

Loosen the bolts securing the drum to the hub and remove the drum together with the hub by unscrewing the central hub mounting nut.
Remove the guide pads by turning the metal covers 90° (Fig. 6.5). Remove the springs together with the pins.

Remove the pads from their lower support.
Remove the lower brake shoe tension spring.
Disconnect the pads from the brake cylinder.
Remove the upper brake shoe tension spring and the intermediate handbrake lever.
Remove the locking latch, as well as the adjustment latch and the handbrake balancing lever.
Remove the handbrake cable. Check the brake drum for wear before installing the shoe mechanism. Drums with scratched friction surfaces, as well as traces of corrosion, must be replaced with new ones. Drums are always replaced in pairs, even if only one of them has defects that require replacement. Before starting installation, it is useful to familiarize yourself with the contents section 4.2 "Rear suspension - Replacement and adjustment of rear wheel bearing clearance".
Mount the adjustment latch and the handbrake balancing lever with the brake shoes. Make sure that the parts move freely. To do this, lubricate the pivot points with a thin layer of plastic grease.
Connect the handbrake cable to the balance lever.
Lubricate the six places where the pads meet the brake shield with a thin layer of plastic grease (Fig. 6.6).

Install the upper brake shoe tension spring together with the intermediate (expansion) handbrake lever.
Install the pads on the brake shield, installing them simultaneously on the lower part and correctly inserting them into the cutouts of the brake cylinder pistons.
Install the lower brake shoe tensioner.
Install the guide shoe pins and springs. Install the metal covers.
Set the shoe clearance adjustment mechanism so that the shoes are moved outward (towards the brake drum) as little as possible. This setting will make it easier to install the drum.
Install the drum with the hub and secure it to the hub flange. Tighten the central hub mounting nut.
Press the brake pedal firmly several times to activate the automatic clearance adjustment mechanism between the brake shoes and brake drums.
