Replacing the radiator fan control unit of the engine cooling system (Mondeo 4)

You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver.

1. Place the vehicle on a lift or inspection pit.

2. Remove the engine splash guard (see Removing and installing mudguard and engine crankcase protection).

3. Squeeze the lock of the connector B of the wiring harness and disconnect the connector from the electric fan control unit. Unscrew the screw A securing the control unit B to the electric fan casing.

NOTE: For clarity, further operations for replacing the electric fan control unit are shown with the electric fan housing removed.

4. Remove the additional resistance from the casing, press the lock…

5….disconnect the electric fan wiring harness connector…



6….and remove the control unit.

NOTE: Pay attention to the marking of the electric fan control unit. For replacement, purchase a unit with the same marking.


7. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
