Replacing the cooling system hoses

            0

If your Fiesta develops a crack in the coolant hose while driving, temporarily cover the damaged area with masking tape. For reliability, unscrew the cap of the expansion tank: this will eliminate the formation of excess pressure in the cooling system and allow you to get to the nearest auto repair shop. Keep an eye on the coolant temperature gauge while driving. For replacement, use only original hoses of the required shape and new hose clamps.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Drain and collect coolant in a clean container.

2. Loosen the clamps and remove the hoses.

3. Use a screwdriver to remove firmly seated hose ends. Insert a screwdriver between the hose and the nozzle and carefully pry off the hose.

4. Using petroleum jelly, put new hoses on the nozzles so that they do not come off the nozzles while driving. After installing the hoses, replace clamps 1 and 2 (pic. 6.12) on screw 3, which do not cut deep into the hose and much better dose and distribute the clamping force.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Checking the functionality of the thermostat

The thermostat is sensitive to changes in the temperature acting on it. Its work can be checked as follows. Direct the stream of hot air created by the hair dryer to the thermostat, while the thermostat valve should open. Then dip the thermostat into cold tap water, the thermostat valve should close quickly. Otherwise, check the ease of movement of the valve and, if necessary, replace the thermostat.
