Note: Make sure the engine is completely cool before starting work. Drain approximately 1 liter (1 quart) of coolant from the radiator as recommended in Chapter 1.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Locate the fan thermostat on the left end of the intake manifold (driver's side) - for V6 engines or on the cylinder head (for four-cylinder engines) - see pictures.
3. Remove the electrical connector from the thermal relay.
4. Remove the thermal relay (if possible, use an open-end wrench or socket wrench).
5. Wrap the threads of the new thermostat with Teflon tape to prevent leaks.
6. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
