Removal and installation of the electric motor of the fan of a heater

You will need: socket head "10", a screwdriver with a flat blade.

1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.



2. Under the instrument panel on the left side of the heater, press the retainer of the heater fan motor wiring harness block..

NOTE: Shown with instrument panel removed for clarity.




3.... and disconnect the block from the electric motor.



4. Remove the glove box (see Removing and installing instrument panel).




5. Through the hole in the instrument panel that opened after removing the glove box, on the right side of the heater, disconnect the wiring harness block from the recirculation damper drive electric motor by squeezing the latches of its fastening.



6. Remove the heater air intake together with the recirculation damper by unscrewing the three bolts securing it to the heater housing.



7. Remove the electric fan from the heater housing.




8. Press the three latches securing the electric fan casing with a screwdriver..



NOTE: This is how the fan shroud fasteners are located.




9….and detach the shroud.



10. Squeeze the antennae of the wire retainer with a screwdriver..




11….and remove the retainer.



12. Remove the wires from the sockets of the cover and remove the cover.



NOTE: This is what the heater blower motor looks like removed from the vehicle. Pay attention to the markings on the motor housing in order to obtain a motor of the same design when replacing.


13. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.



NOTE: Replace badly compressed or torn air intake foam seal.
