Removing and installing the heater fan motor (Mondeo 4)

You will need: a 10 mm socket head and a flat-blade screwdriver.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Under the instrument panel on the left side of the heater, press the locking device of the heater fan motor wiring harness connector…

3….and disconnect the block from the electric motor.

4. Remove the glove box (see Removing and installing the instrument panel).

5. Through the hole in the instrument panel that opened after removing the glove compartment, on the right side of the heater, disconnect the wiring harness connector from the recirculation flap drive motor by squeezing the fastening clamps.

6. Remove the heater air intake together with the recirculation flap by unscrewing the three bolts securing it to the heater casing.

7. Remove the electric fan from the heater housing.

8. Use a screwdriver to release the three latches securing the electric fan casing…

12. Remove the wires from the cover sockets and remove the cover.

NOTE: This is what the heater fan motor looks like when removed from the vehicle. Pay attention to the markings on the motor housing so that when replacing it, you can purchase a motor of the same design.


13. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
