Replacing the front door lock

You will need: TORX T20 and T30 wrenches, flat blade screwdriver.

1. Remove the front door upholstery (see Removing and installing front door trim).



2. Remove the inner handle of the lock actuator from the inner panel of the door (refer to Front Door Lock Internal Handle Replacement).



3. Prying up the cable holder of the inner handle..



4….remove it from the inner panel of the door.


NOTE: It is necessary to remove the inner handle because it is difficult to disconnect the drive cable from the lock installed on the door. It is more convenient to remove the lock together with the cable, and to disconnect the cable from the handle, you need to remove it.


5. Remove the front door power window (see Front Door Window Lifter Replacement).

6. Remove the outer handle of the front door (refer to Front Door Outside Handle and Switch Replacement).



7. While pressing the latch, disconnect the block of the wiring harness for the electric lock of the front door lock.



8. Turn out three screws of fastening of the lock on a back end face of a door.



9. Remove the outer handle front seal..




10.... remove the screw securing the lock to the outer panel of the door..



11.... and remove the lock by pulling it out through the technological hole in the door panel.



NOTE: This is what the front door lock looks like removed with the inside handle and outside handle base.





12. To remove the base of the outer handle, press the fixing shoulder on the lock connector with a screwdriver..



13….and remove the handle base from the connector.



14. Disconnect draft from the lock switch lever.



15. Use a screwdriver to spread the two clamps of the cable sheath stop.




16. Remove the sheath stop from the holder and, lifting the cable sheath so that the cable is aligned with the groove on the lever..



17….remove the tip of the cable from the hole in the lever…



18….and remove the base of the outer handle.



19. To remove the cable, open the two retainers of the outer handle cable sheath stop with a screwdriver and remove the sheath stop from the holder.



20. Rotate the tip of the cable so that its rectangular protrusion coincides with the groove of the lever..



21.... and remove the front door outside handle cable.



22. To remove the connector, press the connector lock with a screwdriver and, holding it in the pressed state..



23….press out the second latch…



24.... and remove the connector from the lock.

25. Install the front door lock and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
