Checking the preheating device (Mondeo 3)

            0

If there is a suspected defect in the preheating system of your diesel engine, you should proceed as follows:

ORDER OF EXECUTION
  1. Check the fuses in the engine electrical system.
  2. Is the main fuse (connector 1) of the on-board power supply OK?
  3. If there is no problem here, use a multimeter to check the voltage at the glow plugs.
  4. It should be at least 11.5 volts, if not, replace the spark plugs.
  5. To do this, disconnect the wire from one of the four glow plugs.
  6. Connect a test lamp between the ground and the appropriate connecting wire.
  7. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor plug and store in a safe place.
  8. Set the ignition key to the "Preheat" position.
  9. If the indicator lamp lights for 20 seconds, voltage is present at the glow plugs and the warm-up time set by the control unit is correct.
  10. If the indicator lamp does not come on, check the main fuse or preheat relay.
  11. If the glow time is not reached, look for a fault in the control unit.
