Replacing coolant hoses (Mondeo 3)

            0

If a coolant hose bursts while driving your Mondeo, first seal the leak with temporary adhesive tape. For safety, slightly unscrew the expansion tank cap: this does not generate operating pressure, so the patch with tape can "hold" until the final repair. While driving, constantly pay attention to the engine temperature indicator and under no circumstances bring it to the limit value. As spare parts, buy only genuine hoses, as they are guaranteed to fit and do not harden immediately after a short time. The hose clamps should be carefully inspected - corroded clamps should be replaced immediately.

ORDER OF EXECUTION

  1. Drain the coolant into a clean container.
  2. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the hoses.
  3. Loosen the tightly seated ends of the hose with a screwdriver. To do this, insert the tool between the hose and the branch pipe and carefully press it away from the corresponding connecting pipe.
  4. Lubricate the new hoses with Vaseline and fit them onto the fitting properly so that they do not slip off while driving.

Act decisively: Clamps 1 and 2 on water and fuel hoses. If you are replacing old radiator hoses or fuel hoses or have removed the serial clamps, then threaded clamps 3 can be used to install new hoses. Threaded clamps squeeze the hoses over a larger surface area, and you can also better determine their degree of clamping.
