Cleaning and replacing the filter cartridge (Mondeo 3)

            0

In our latitudes, filter elements should be cleaned at least once a year and replaced no later than after two years. New cartridges for your Mondeo should be obtained from your dealer or purchased in the relevant stores. In fact, they may not be genuine spare parts, but be sure to pay attention to the quality of the goods. Sometimes, poor-quality foreign products are located on the shelves of auto stores. At the moment, you may save a dozen rubles, but over time, your engine will be offended by such stinginess - it will "breathe in" a lot of dirt and, as a result, wear out prematurely. On behalf of all Mondeos, we describe below as an example the replacement in 1.8/2.0-liter Mondeos.

Cleaning the filter element

ORDER OF EXECUTION

  1. Carefully tap the filter element on a hard surface. This will remove large dust particles.
  2. Fine dust particles should be blown out with compressed air.

    - Blow the element only from the back side up. If you change the direction, the dust will be pressed even more firmly into the filter pores.

    — Never clean the paper filter with liquid, which will hopelessly clog the filter pores. Consequence: engine power decreases, exhaust gas parameters deteriorate significantly.
  3. Before installing the filter element, ensure that the sealing surfaces are in good contact with the housing parts.

Actions of the cleaner: Always blow through the filter element from the bottom up. If damage is found on the film filter, replace the filter immediately.
