- remove the drive mechanism with the toothed belt to gain access to the oil pump;
- remove the pulley and the drive gear of the crankshaft;
- remove the oil pan (see section 3.6);
- unscrew the inlet pipe from the oil pump;

- unscrew the oil pump from the front side of the engine (Fig. 113);

- remove the sealing ring from the pump body (Fig. 114).
Install the oil pump in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Cars produced before May 1998.

Press the pump body against the cylinder block surface (Fig. 115) so that the surface of the pump body is lower than the surface of the cylinder block (dimension A = 0.3–0.8 mm);
- tighten the screws;
- lubricate the sealing lips of the radial oil seal with a small amount of grease and insert it through the crankshaft into the bore of the pump housing;
Note: A piece of pipe of the same diameter works best for pressing in. Put a washer on it and insert the screw used to secure the crankshaft pulley through the washer and the piece of pipe and screw it into the crankshaft.
- tighten the screw until the seal is flush;
- install the toothed drive belt;
- connect the oil filler pipe with a new seal (torque 10 Nm);
- install the oil pan;
- pour in oil.
On vehicles produced since May 1998.
Align the oil pump rotor with the notch on the crankshaft;
- install a new seal;

- slightly tighten the screws and align the oil pump (Fig. 116) so that the pump body is below the cylinder block surface by approximately 0.3–0.8 mm;
- after installing the dipstick, tighten the screws to a torque of 11 Nm;
- install a new radial seal ring into the oil pump housing;
Note: The oil seal is pressed in using a special mandrel. A piece of pipe with a large washer can be used for this purpose.
- further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal;
- fill the engine with oil.
Note: The oil pump of the 16-valve engine cannot be repaired.
