Oil pump replacement

            0

To replace the oil pump:

- Remove the drive mechanism with a toothed belt to gain access to the oil pump;

- Remove the pulley and crankshaft drive gear;

- remove the oil pan (see subsection 3.6);

- Turn away an inlet pipe from the oil pump;

- unscrew the oil pump from the front side of the engine (pic. 113);

Pic. 114. Removing the crankshaft sealing ring

- remove the sealing ring from the pump body (pic. 114).

Install the oil pump in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.

Vehicles manufactured before May 1998

Pic. 115. Oil pump installation (cars produced before May 1998)

Press the pump housing against the surface of the cylinder block (pic. 115) so that the surface of the pump housing is lower than the surface of the cylinder block (dimension A = 0.3–0.8 mm);

- tighten the screws;

- lubricate the sealing lips of the radial oil seal with a small amount of grease and insert it through the crankshaft into the hole in the pump housing;

Note: A piece of pipe of the same diameter is best suited for pressing. Place a washer on it and insert the screw used to secure the crankshaft pulley through the washer and piece of pipe and thread it into the crankshaft.

- tighten the screw until the stuffing box is flush;

- Establish a toothed drive belt;

- connect the oil filler pipe with a new seal (torque 10 Nm);

- Establish the oil pallet;

- Fill with oil.

On vehicles manufactured since May 1998.

Align the oil pump rotor with the cutout on the crankshaft;

- install a new seal;

Pic. 116. Oil pump installation (production vehicles from May 1998)

- lightly tighten the screws and align the oil pump (pic. 116) so that the pump housing is approximately 0.3–0.8 mm below the surface of the cylinder block;

- after installing the probe, tighten the screws with a torque of 11 Nm;

- Establish a new radial sealing ring in the case of the oil pump;

Note: The oil seal is pressed in using a special mandrel. For this purpose, you can use a piece of pipe with a large washer.

- further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal;

- fill the engine with oil.

Note: The oil pump of the 16-valve engine cannot be repaired.
