Checking the engine oil level (Mondeo 2)

3.2.1. Oil consumption

The oil dipstick is located on the front of the engine.

Warning: Check the oil level when the engine has cooled down (5-10 minutes).

To check the oil level:

- place the car on a horizontal platform;

- carefully pull out the dipstick. Wipe it with a lint-free cloth or paper towel, reinsert it until it stops;

- remove the dipstick again;

- the level should be between the marks on the dipstick.

If the oil level is at or below the lower mark, add oil. When doing so, follow these guidelines:

- the amount of oil between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick is approximately 0.75 l;

- with a normal driving style, it is enough to add oil when its level is in the lower third of the dipstick or when the oil level indicator light comes on. With a sporty driving style, it is recommended to keep the oil level near the upper mark of the dipstick. More oil cools engine parts better.

If the oil level is above the upper mark, remove excess oil.
