Checking the engine oil level

            0

The engine oil level must be checked after every third refueling of the vehicle. During the break-in of a car or engine operated for a long time with increased oil consumption, a check should be carried out every 1000 km of run. If the oil level is located in the middle between both indicator marks, add approximately 0.5 liters of oil to the engine.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Check the oil level before starting a cold engine for the first time. In this case, the car must stand on a flat horizontal surface. With a warm engine, wait at least 5 minutes for all the oil to drain into the oil pan.

2. Get the oil level indicator. Be careful when working on a hot engine: the dipstick can be very hot. Wipe the pointer with a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel, insert it all the way, wait a little, and then remove it again.

3. If the oil level is located in the upper quarter between the marks, the oil level is normal, at 50% - you should add no more than 0.5 liters of oil, but if the level is located near the lower mark, you must immediately add oil, as practice suggests that in this case, almost 1 liter of oil is missing.

4. Always add enough oil so that its level does not exceed the upper mark. It is recommended to constantly maintain the oil level in the upper quarter between the indicator marks. In this case, even in summer at high ambient temperatures, the oil will not heat up. Too much engine oil is harmful to the engine, as it penetrates through leaks in gaskets and seals (oiled clutch, belt pulleys) or is sucked in through the crankcase ventilation system and contaminates the air filter and intake tract.

5. When adding oil from large containers, use a clean funnel.
