Disconnect the ground wire from the battery clamp.

Remove the timing belt cover.

Disconnect the coolant pipe from the expansion tank.

Disconnect the gas pedal linkage from the injection pump.

Disconnect all fuel lines from the high-pressure fuel pump. Plug the open openings of these fuel lines.

Disconnect electrical connections.

Remove the threaded hole plug into which the TDC locating pin is screwed.

Engage fourth gear and slowly rotate the crankshaft until the elongated hole in the belt pulley (on the crankshaft) will not be in the position corresponding to eleven o'clock on the hour dial (see fig. 2.161).

Rotate the crankshaft in the opposite direction to rotation while the engine is running, and in this way open a hole in the engine housing into which the dowel pin must be screwed and firmly tightened.

Turn the crankshaft in the direction of its rotation while the engine is running. so that the locating pin rests on the elongated hole in the belt pulley (No. 1 piston is at TDC).

Screw the dowel pins into the engine housing through the elongated holes in the injection pump and camshaft belt pulleys.

Loosen the toothed belt tensioner and release tension from the toothed belt. Fix the tensioner in this position.

Remove the toothed belt from the pump drive wheel and remove this drive wheel.

Unscrew the fixing bolts and remove the injection pump.
