Replacement of fuel injection pump (Fiesta 2)

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery clamp.

Remove the timing belt cover.

Disconnect the coolant pipe from the expansion tank.

Disconnect the gas pedal rod from the fuel injection pump.

Disconnect all fuel lines from the injection pump. Plug open holes in these fuel lines.

Disconnect the electrical connections.

Remove the plug from the threaded hole into which the TDC alignment pin is screwed.

Engage fourth gear and slowly rotate the crankshaft until the elongated hole in the belt pulley (on the crankshaft) is in the position corresponding to eleven o'clock on the clock dial (see Fig. 2.161).

Turn the crankshaft in the direction opposite to the rotation during engine operation and in this way open the hole in the engine housing into which the dowel pin must be screwed and firmly tightened.

Turn the crankshaft in the direction of its rotation while the engine is running so that the installation pin rests against the elongated hole in the belt pulley (the piston of the first cylinder is at TDC).

Screw the dowel pins into the engine housing through the elongated holes in the fuel injection pump and camshaft belt pulleys.



Loosen the timing belt tensioner and remove tension from the timing belt. Secure the tensioner in this position.

Remove the timing belt from the pump drive wheel and remove the drive wheel.

Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the fuel injection pump.
