Replacing the fuel filter (Fiesta 2)

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery clamp.

Place a container under the engine to collect any fuel that leaks out.

Disconnect both fuel lines from the filter (Fig. 2.163).

Disconnect both fuel lines from the filter (Fig. 2.163).


Close the clutch housing so that any diesel fuel that leaks out does not flood the clutch.

Unscrew the filter housing from the bracket and remove it (Fig. 2.164).

Unscrew the filter housing from the bracket and remove it (Fig. 2.164).


Install a new fuel filter.

Connect both fuel lines with new gaskets.

Unscrew the bleed screw on the filter bracket and raise the rear of the vehicle with a lift.

Screw in the bleed screw immediately after fuel appears in it.

Lower the rear of the vehicle.

Connect the battery to the vehicle's electrical system.

Start the engine and let it run for about one minute, this will allow any remaining air that may be in the fuel system to be removed.

Remove the container into which the diesel fuel has drained and remove the cover from the clutch housing.
