General information about drive shafts

1. Torque is transmitted from the transmission differential to the front wheels via two drive shafts. The right drive shaft is two-section and contains a thrust bearing (see fig.1.1).

2. Left drive shaft
3. Inner joint of the left drive shaft (tricycle roller joint)
4. Differential
5. Intermediate shaft
6. Intermediate shaft support bearing bracket
7. Countershaft bearing
8. Inner joint of the right drive shaft (tricycle roller joint)
9. Right drive shaft
10. Left differential output shaft (CD4E)
11. Intermediate shaft (CD4E)

2. Each drive shaft contains three main components: internal joint (tricycle roller joint), shaft and outer hinge of equal angular velocities. The inner male end of the left tricycle joint is fixed on the differential side with an elastic ring. The inner female end of the right drive shaft is fixed with an elastic ring on the intermediate shaft. The intermediate shaft is supported by a bearing mounted in a bracket that is bolted to the rear of the cylinder block. External constant velocity joint (ball type) each drive shaft is fixed on the hub with a nut.
