Removing and installing the oil level sensor (Mondeo 1 and 2)

Removal


1. Place the vehicle on a firm, level surface, open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable (Chapter 5, paragraph 1).

2. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it.

3. Remove the two screws and remove the sensor cover from the front of the pan (see Fig. 19.3).

4. Disconnect the sensor wiring connector (See Fig. 19.4). If necessary, disconnect the connector to disconnect the sensor wiring from the wiring harness and unclip this connector to remove the wiring from the vehicle.

5. Unscrew the sensor and immediately plug the hole in the pan formed after its removal to reduce leaks. Pay attention to the sensor seals.

Installation


6. Installation - in the reverse order of removal. Replace the sensor seal if it is worn and/or damaged and tighten the sensor mount to the required torque. Check the engine oil level and top up if necessary (chapter 1).



Immediately after starting the engine and warming it up to normal operating temperature, check for oil leaks.
