Fuel level sensor — removal and installation (Transit 2)

            0

Removal

1. Remove the fuel tank as described in section 16.

2. Remove the sensor from the tank. There is a Ford tool for this (number 23-014), hooked onto the protrusions on the sensor assembly, but it is possible, albeit with difficulty, to get by with a pair of Phillips screwdrivers or a similar tool

3. Remove the sensor, being careful not to damage the float or bend the float arm. Remove the seal (see Figure 15.3).

Figure 15.3. Remove the sensor, being careful not to damage the float or bend the lever.

4. If the sensor is defective, it cannot be repaired and must be replaced. Replace the seal in any case.

Installation

5. Before installing the sensor, inspect the condition of the O-ring and replace it with a new one if necessary.

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
