Removal
Non-turbocharged engines and turbocharged models before 1995
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Use the lever to remove the retainer and separate the accelerator cable from the pedal.
3. Turn the two pedal bushings with square heads 45 degrees and remove them. Remove the pedal with the axle.
Turbocharged models produced since 1995
4. On the latest turbocharged models, the accelerator pedal is linked to the pedal position sensor via the engine management system (see Section 27).
5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the top of the accelerator pedal assembly.
7. From the engine side, remove the lock nuts securing the pedal assembly to the bulkhead.
8. Remove the pedal and sensor assembly from the vehicle (see Figure 14.8).

Installation
All models
9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. If necessary, reconnect the throttle cable to the pedal and adjust it as described in section 13.
