Hood release cable and lever (Mondeo 1 and 2)

Removal

1. Open the hood, disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. From inside the car, remove the trim from the B-pillar and pull the moisture seal out of the bottom of the door opening.

3. Remove the fasteners and screws and remove the lower side trim to access the hood release lever (see Fig. 9.3).



4. Release the cable housing from the lever bracket.

5. Remove the lever mounting screws. Turn the lever clockwise a quarter turn to disconnect it from the cable.

6. Remove the radiator grille (paragraph 7). Also remove the rear panel from the front crossmember of the engine compartment.

7. Release the cable and its sheath from the lock.

8. Pull the cable out of the engine compartment, passing it through the front crossmember, taking into account the removal of the bushing from the engine compartment bulkhead.

Installation

9. Installation - in the reverse order of removal.
