The license plate lights are installed in the decorative trim of the trunk lid (tailgate). They can be removed together with the trim (see "Removing and installing the decorative trim of the rear door") or separately from it. This subsection describes the removal of the license plate lights without removing the decorative trim.
You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver.
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the two screws securing the license plate light.
3. Remove the lantern from the decorative cover.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors and remove the license plate light.
5. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
