The positive crankcase ventilation system forces gases from the engine crankcase back through the engine where they mix with the incoming air/fuel stream.

The positive crankcase ventilation valve regulates the amount of ventilation air and gases from the crankcase supplied (quantity) to the intake manifold. It also prevents backfire in the crankcase.

The positive crankcase ventilation system helps reduce the level of hydrocarbon emissions from the engine.
