The positive crankcase ventilation system forces gases from the crankcase back through the engine, where they mix with the incoming air/fuel stream.
The positive crankcase ventilation valve controls the amount of ventilation air and gases from the crankcase supplied (quantity) to the intake manifold. This also prevents backflash in the crankcase.
The positive crankcase ventilation system helps to reduce the level of hydrocarbon emissions from the engine.
