Generator (1.6L Duratec) — removal and installation (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Section 414-01 for additional information.

2. Remove the cooling fan shroud. Refer to Section 303-03 for additional information.

3. Lower the vehicle.

4. Remove the accessory drive belt.

• Turn the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise.
• Remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.

5. Remove the generator electrical connector cover.

6. Disconnect the electrical connections of the generator.



7. Remove the upper generator mounting bolts.

NOTE: Support the generator

Remove the lower generator mounting bolt.



9. Remove the generator.

Installation

1. To install, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.
