Tire sensitivity to speed and revs

            0

Torque sensitive

This means that the condition can improve or worsen due to accelerating, decelerating, coasting, maintaining a steady vehicle speed, or changing engine torque.

Sensitive to vehicle speed

This means that the vibration always occurs at the same vehicle speed and is not affected by engine torque, engine speed or gear selection.

Engine speed sensitive

This means that vibration occurs when shifting gears when another gear is selected. In some cases, this condition can be determined by increasing or decreasing the engine speed with the transmission in neutral or by checking the engine speed limit with the gear engaged. If the condition is sensitive to engine speed, the cause may not be related to tires.

If a road test reveals tire noise that is not accompanied by bumps or vibrations, the noise is due to tire contact with the road.

A dull noise usually indicates a tire puncture or the presence of areas of reduced hardness in the tire that make noise when "spanking" about the road surface. Tire noise can be distinguished from axle noise. The dull noise in the tires does not change depending on the transmission.
