Designations of tires and disk wheels

            0

Tire designation example:

195 - tire width in mm

/70 - ratio of height to width (tire cross-sectional height is 70% of the width).

If there is no special indication of the ratio of transverse dimensions (e.g. 155 R 13), then we are talking about the normal ratio of height and width, which for radial tires is 82%.

R - radial design (radial tire)

14 is the rim diameter in inches.

89 - characteristic of the permissible load. Attention: If the designation M + S is between the numbers 14 and 89, then we are talking about a tire with a winter tread pattern.

H - letter designation of the permissible maximum speed; H: up to 210 km/h.

The letter designation of the speed is given after the designation of the tire size. The speed symbols are valid for both summer and winter tyres.

T190
H210
V240
W270

Attention: If the word reinforced is present at the end of the tire designation, then this is a reinforced tire, for example, for Van and Transporter cars.

Tire manufacturing date

The date of manufacture is indicated on the tire in the manufacturer's code.

Example: DOT CUL2 UM8 5000 TUBELESS
  • DOT - Departament of Transportation (Ministry of transportation)
  • CU - manufacturer's abbreviation
  • L2 - tire size
  • UM8 - bus version
  • 5000 - date of manufacture - 50th week of 2000

Note: if instead of a 4-digit number, a 3-digit number is indicated, followed by the symbol, then this indicates that. that the tire was manufactured in the last decade. The designation 509, for example, should be read like this: the 50th week of 1999. TUBELESS - tubeless tire (TUBETYPE - tube tire).

Attention: Since 10/98, new tires must additionally have an ECE test number on the sidewall (European Economic Commission). This number indicates that. that the tires comply with the ECE standard. Tires manufactured from 10/98 without an ECE number. do not have a license to operate.

Disc wheel designation

Example: 6Jx14
  • 6 - rim width in inches
  • J - letter designation of the height and outline of the rim flange (B - low rim shape)
  • x - letter designation of a one-piece deep rim
  • 14 - rim diameter in inches
