Checking the engine oil level (Mondeo 1)

The engine oil level should be checked approximately every 1000 km and topped up if necessary. The engine should not consume more than 1 liter of oil per 1000 km. Higher oil consumption is a sign of worn valve stem seals and/or piston rings or oil seals.

When measuring the oil level, the car must be on a horizontal surface.

The engine must be warmed up to operating temperature.

After stopping the engine, wait for about 3 minutes to allow the oil to collect in the pan.

Remove the engine oil level indicator and wipe it with a clean rag.



Then insert the pointer as far as it will go and pull it out again. The oil level should be between the two marks.

Add oil only if the oil level is close to the lower mark. The difference in the amount of oil between the MIN and MAX marks on the indicator is, depending on the engine type, from 0.5 to 1 l.

Oil is added through the oil filler neck in the cylinder head cover. For topping up, use the appropriate grades of oil, without additives.

Attention! Do not overfill the oil beyond the "MAX" mark. Excess oil must be sucked out, otherwise the engine or catalytic converter seals may be damaged.
