Removal



Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery.

Warning! This will erase data in electronic memory devices, such as the engine fault memory device or the radio code. Please read the section carefully "Removing and installing the battery", before disconnecting it.


Open and remove the ashtray.

Open and remove the ashtray.


Remove both upper bolts of the center console, after first pressing the protective caps with a small screwdriver.

Remove the radio, see item 22.5.

Remove the radio, see item 22.5.


Pull the trim out of the three clips at the top and remove. Disconnect the electric mirror adjustment multi-pin connector, if equipped.

Fan switch

Remove the rotary knob (mushroom).



Unscrew screws "2" and remove the control element.

Disconnect both multi-pin connectors from the fan switch at the rear.

Disconnect both multi-pin connectors from the fan switch at the rear.


Remove screw "1".

Turn the fan switch in the direction of the arrow and remove.

Temperature controller



Disconnect pipe "3" (see Fig. F-5238).

Unscrew screws "2" and remove the control element.

Unhook or disconnect the rear temperature control flexible cable clamps.

Caution: In vehicles with air conditioning, disconnect the multi-pin connector instead.

Unscrew the temperature controller and remove it.

Installation



Insert the fan switch into the control, turn to the left and screw in.

Place both multi-pin connectors onto the fan switch.

Install the temperature controller and screw it in. Attach the flexible rod and secure with a spring clamp.



Install and screw the control, install the mushroom.

Insert the edging into the three clamps.

If necessary, fit a multi-pin connector for electrical mirror control.

Mount the radio receiver, see item 22.5.

Screw in the two bolts of the center console to the left and right of the ashtray. Put the caps on the bolts.

Insert the ashtray.

Connect the ground (-) wire to the battery.

Set the radio anti-theft code.
