Malfunctions of the petrol injection system (Mondeo 3)

Cause	Elimination
A. A cold engine does not start or starts poorly.
Defect in the power supply relay. The fuel pump does not pump fuel or does not pump enough fuel. Pressure regulator defective. The vacuum system is not sealed. Coolant temperature sensor defective. Throttle position sensor defective. Defect in the ignition system. Defective speed sensor or broken wire connection. Defect in the control unit. The suction system is not tight (additional air appears).	Check and replace if necessary. Is there gasoline in the tank? Check the pump connections. If necessary, remove the pump from the tank, measure the feed flow. Measure the system pressure. Check all hose connections. Check it out. Check it out. The ignition system should be checked. Check and replace if necessary. Check it out. Check all hose connections.
B. The hot engine does not start or starts poorly.
See A1 – A10. Defect in the absolute pressure sensor. The injectors are not sealed.	Check it out.
B. The engine starts to move, but then stops again.
The throttle control motor does not work. See A6. Defect in the lambda sensor.	Check the adjustment motor, replace if necessary. — Check the operation, replace if necessary.
G. Cold engine shakes at idle.

D. The hot engine shakes at idle.

E. Idle speed is interrupted when a strong current consumer is turned on or when the servo control is fully turned.

G. The engine misfires.
The fuel filter is dirty. See A2 and A7. See B2. See B3.	Replace the filter.
3. Fluctuations in rotation speed at 2000 – 4000 rpm

I. The engine runs intermittently and then stops.

K. The engine power is insufficient.
See A2, A4 and A6. The throttle valve does not set to the full throttle position.	— Adjust the gas pedal tension.
L. High fuel consumption.

M. The engine often does not start.
See A1 – A10. See B1 – B3. The injection system safety switch interrupts the fuel supply (after an accident, a strong collision, a leak in the fuel supply system from the tank to the injectors).	— — Remove the plugs in the right side trim (footwell). Press the pop-up button. Set the ignition key to the working position, the fuel pump should be audibly running. If not, eliminate leaks in the system.
