Brake malfunctions

            0

Cause
elimination
A. Brakes squeak.
  1. Resonant noise between disc and pads.
  2. The pads are worn or hardened.
  3. The braking surfaces of the discs are heavily soiled, oily or worn.
  4. The pad guide in the caliper is dirty or rusty.
  5. The piston is blocked in the caliper.
  1. Replace the linings, if necessary, grease the bearing plates of the linings on the reverse side with a paste to reduce noise.
  2. Replace.
  3. «fix it» discs with an emery cloth or sand. Replace worn discs in pairs.
  4. Clean and sand.
  5. Make salable or repair the caliper.
B. Braking effect drops (decrease in efficiency).
  1. Pedal travel is normal:

    A) The pads are oily, burnt or hardened.

    b) See A3.
  2. Pedal travel is short:

The brake booster does not work or there is no low pressure in the booster.
  3. Pedal travel long:

    A) See A5.

    b) Brake circuit failure.
  4. Worn pads.
  1. Replace pads.
  2. Check amplifier; check the low pressure pipeline; check low pressure valve (clogged?) and replace if necessary.
  3. Check and replace defective parts.
  4. Replace pads.
B. With strong pressure on the brake pedal, weak braking power
  1. See from A2 to A5.
  2. Look from B1 to B4.
D. Weak brake pedal travel.
  1. Air in the brake system.
  2. With overloaded brakes (driving in mountainous areas, the presence of a trailer) steam bubbles are formed (decrease in efficiency).
  3. The master brake cylinder is not properly secured.
  1. Check the brake system, pump it.
  2. Stop, cool your brakes. Drive and brake carefully, downshift frequently (engine braking).
  3. Check fastening.
E. The brake pedal can be fully depressed, but there is no braking effect.
  1. Failure of the master brake cylinder.
  2. Cracked brake hose, leak in the connection.
  3. Brake fluid old or overheated (steam bubble formation).
  1. Replace.
  2. Replace.
  3. Replace.
E. Too much pedal travel.
  1. Wheel bearing is loose or worn.
  2. The discs are oval, the pads are overturned.
  3. Brake fluid is leaking.
  1. Fasten, replace if necessary.
  2. Check discs and pads, replace if necessary.
  3. Check the hydraulic system of the brake system for tightness, eliminate the shortcomings.
G. Low brake fluid level.
  1. Discs or pads are worn.
  2. Hydraulic leaks.
  1. Check discs or pads, replace if necessary.
  2. Check hydraulics for leaks and repair.
3. Brakes pull to one side.
  1. The discs are defective or different pads.
  2. See A3.
  3. See A5.
  4. Incorrect tires or tire pressure.
  5. Defect in the steering mechanism.
  6. The shock absorber is worn out.
  1. Check, replace if necessary.
  2. Check; install proper tires; check tire pressure.
  3. Check.
  4. Check, replace if necessary.
I. The pads are heavily or unevenly worn.
  1. Brake discs are rusted or cracked.
  2. See A5.
Check, replace if necessary.
