Service brake system:
  • front brake mechanism - with solid discs for models with GMA, GPA, GLA, and JPA engines and ventilated discs for models with engines of other models;
  • rear brake mechanism - drum with automatic adjustment of the gap between the shoes and drums;
  • brake drive - hydraulic dual-circuit with diagonal circuit separation, with vacuum booster and pressure regulator regardless of load. Parking brake manual, with cable drive to the brake shoes of the rear wheels.

Brake fluid level in the reservoir

After the first 2500 km of mileage, and then every 10,000 km of mileage, check the brake fluid level in both compartments of the master brake cylinder reservoir and top up if necessary: the fluid level should be at the "max" mark.

If the brake fluid level in the reservoir drops significantly, check the tightness of the hydraulic circuits. Brake fluid is chemically aggressive. When topping up, do not allow the fluid to come into contact with painted surfaces of the car body.

If this cannot be avoided, wash off the liquid with plenty of cold water.

Bleeding the brake system

If there is too much free travel in the brake pedal and it is necessary to press the pedal multiple times to brake the vehicle, it is necessary to bleed air from the hydraulic circuits.

After 60,000 km of mileage or every 3 years of operation, it is recommended to replace the brake fluid in the entire brake system.

Brake maintenance

After the first 2500 km of mileage, then every 10,000 km of mileage, and also in the event of overheating of the brake mechanisms, it is necessary to check the condition of the friction linings of the brake pads of the front and rear wheels and replace the pads if necessary.

NOTE: The working clearance in the brake mechanisms is maintained automatically.

Parking brake

The parking brake locks the brake mechanisms of the rear wheels. To do this, simply pull the parking brake lever up sharply until it stops.

To unlock the brakes, pull the lever slightly upwards, press the locking button and lower the lever down until it stops.

Parking brake warning light

The indicator lamp is located in the center of the instrument cluster, lights up when the parking brake lever is moved up (tightened) and goes out when the lever is returned to its original position (down to the stop)

On some vehicle modifications, the parking brake warning lamp is connected to an electric sensor for the fluid level in the master brake cylinder reservoir. If it lights up while the vehicle is moving, the brake circuits need to be checked at the earliest opportunity.

Maintenance of the parking brake consists of checking and adjusting the cable tension, as well as lubricating the lever system every 10,000 km.
