Removing and installing the drive shaft on the left side of the vehicle (Mondeo 2)

To remove the drive shaft from the left side, you need to:

- perform the same operations as for the right drive shaft, up to removing the wheel hub flange from the end of the shaft;

- release the shaft from the inside of the gearbox (see Fig. 31);

- press the shaft (see Fig. 172) out of the gearbox;

- Place a wooden pad under the place where the lever turns so that the pressure point is not damaged by the lever. Once the shaft is released, it can be removed from engagement with the steering knuckle.

Carry out the installation in the same way as installing the drive shaft on the right side of the vehicle, taking into account the following:



- install the spring retaining ring into the groove of the nut shaft;

- push the shaft into the gearbox until the retaining ring snaps into place;

- tighten the intermediate bearing nuts to a torque of 27 Nm.
