General information about wheel drives (Mondeo 2)

            0

To install the wheel drive shafts at the service station, a special device is used. The shaft nuts are unscrewed and screwed in with the insert head of a spanner with a jaw width of 32 mm. A lever is required to disengage the shafts from the drive.

The shafts are pressed tightly into the hub. To remove the wheel hub flange, you will need a universal two- or three-lever puller.

The main gear is located in the same housing as the differential and gearbox. There are also four conical wheels engaged with each other, two of which are connected to the drive shafts.

Joint sealing cuffs are corrugated covers that protect constant velocity joints. The inner side of the sealing cuffs is coated with consistent grease.

The service life of the drive shafts depends on the driving style. Avoid starting at full throttle with the front wheels turned out and starting with the drive wheels spinning.
