How to lift a car safely (Focus Turnier 1)

            0

Always park your vehicle on a solid, level surface and remove all heavy objects from the interior and trunk before starting work.

Before starting work, tighten the handbrake and secure at least one of the unbraked wheels with wooden pegs: in extreme cases, large stones are sufficient. The handbrake alone will not provide sufficient safety; for some jobs, it should even remain off.

The jack along with other standard tools is easy to find in the spare tire well. Before you install the lift in the marked thickenings under the door channel, raise the jack so that its arm is almost at the height of the channel. You should always pay attention to the fact that the jack is as vertical as possible in relation to the body.

Important: Install the side jack only at the designated receiving points. You should only install the mobile jack with a wooden block for load distribution in the middle under the door channel or at another suitable receiving point (e.g. on the crossbar).

Raise the jack to the required height and support the body in the appropriate place on the bottom with a tripod. Also use tripods only with a pad that distributes the force of gravity (for example, hard rubber, a block of wood).

Before you install the tripods, carefully inspect the place where the car is stopped: it is possible that body folds, wiring harnesses, fuel or even brake hoses will be in the way.

The tripod stands most securely if one of its legs is facing outward and the other two are facing the middle of the car. Pay attention to this position when lifting the car. Especially if you are using several tripods, it may happen that the tripod already installed is pressed to the side during lifting.

The points designated for lifting the Focus for extensive repairs are marked 1 and 2. You can install tripod stands, mobile jacks or lifting platforms with levers here without worry. But if you must use other points for special work, try to increase the contact surface under the Focus as much as possible with hardwood boards.
