Checking, removing and installing an electrical disconnect device (Mondeo 1)

            0

The electrical shut-off device is located on the high-pressure fuel pump above the fuel pipe. As soon as the ignition is switched on, this device receives voltage from the preheating relay and opens the fuel channel. In the de-energized state, the piston of the shut-off device, under the influence of the built-in spring, extends and closes the fuel channel. The shut-off device must be checked if the engine does not start.

Examination

Turn on the ignition. The cut-off device clicks.

Otherwise, unscrew the electrical wire "A". Using an auxiliary wire, connect the positive pole of the battery to the disconnecting device.

If the solenoid valve is now closing, check the electrical wires, check the power supply to the preheat relay.

If the valve does not close, check the tightness of the shut-off device, otherwise replace it.

Removal

Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery.

Warning! This will erase data in electronic memory devices, such as the engine fault memory device or the radio code. Please read the section carefully "Removing and installing the battery", before disconnecting it.

Disconnect the electrical wire. Wash the shut-off device (magnetic valve) from the outside with cold solvent.

Caution! Do not allow the piston and spring to fall out.

Installation

Install the shut-off device with a new 0-ring. Make sure that the spring and piston are seated correctly.

Carefully screw the shut-off device (solenoid valve) into the high-pressure fuel pump and tighten the fasteners to a torque of approximately 20 Nm.

Connect the connecting wire to the shut-off device (magnetic valve).

Connect the negative (-) wire to the battery. Set the clock and set the anti-theft code for the radio.
