Front Axle — Design Description (Mondeo 1)

All vehicles use a front axle with two McPherson shock absorber struts "1", each of which consists of a coil spring and a built-in hydraulic shock absorber. The shock absorber struts are fixed to the body and steering knuckles "2". The lateral force is perceived by the transverse suspension arm "3", which is connected to the steering knuckle with a ball pin (removable). The transverse arm is attached to the body through rubber supports. The anti-roll bar "5" connects both struts through two rods, it prevents the car from tilting when cornering. The stabilizer is fixed to the front axle subframe "6" through rubber bushings. The drive torque is transmitted from the engine to the front wheels by two half-axle cardan shafts. The half-axle shafts are of different lengths, each of them has two constant velocity joints. The front wheel bearing is non-separable, so after removal, replace it as an assembly. 7 - front rubber support, 8 - rear rubber support.
