Removing and installing the front bumper (Mondeo 4)

You will need: a TORX T20 key, a 10 mm socket head, a flat-blade screwdriver (or a piston puller), and a Phillips-head screwdriver.

1. Open the hood and place it on the support.

2. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.


3. Remove the engine splash guard (see Removing and installing mudguard and engine crankcase protection).

4. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the fog lights.

4. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the fog lights.


5. In the front wheel arches, unscrew one lower…

6….and the upper screw securing both mudguards to the bumper.

7. On the left side, unscrew the retainer of the piston securing the upper part of the bumper and, using a screwdriver, remove the piston.

8. Remove the piston on the right side in the same way.

9. Press the front bumper retainers on the left and right sides…

10….and remove the front bumper.

11. Install the front bumper and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
