Removing and installing the rear bumper (Mondeo 4)

You will need: all the tools needed to remove the rear wheel mudguards (see Removing and installing wheel mudguards and fender liners), as well as a 13 mm socket head, flat-head and Phillips-head screwdrivers.



1. From the bottom of the bumper on both sides, unscrew the fasteners of the two pins that secure the bumper to the body and, using a screwdriver, remove the pins.

NOTE: This is how the lower rear bumper mounting pins are located.

2. Remove the rear mudguards from both sides of the vehicle (see Removing and installing wheel mudguards and fender liners).





3. Remove two screws on each side of the vehicle that secure the rear bumper to the rear wheel arches.



4. Open the trunk lid and remove one screw on each side of the car that secures the upper bumper to the body.



5. Pull outward to detach the holders on both sides of the bumper from the body and remove the bumper.





6. If the rear bumper beam is damaged, unscrew the four bolts on the right side of the car and the three bolts on the left side that secure the beam to the body side members and remove the beam.

NOTE: This is how the right side beam mounting bolts are located…

7. Install the rear bumper and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
