Removing and installing the trunk lid (Mondeo 4)

You will need: a 10 mm wrench and a flat-blade screwdriver.

1. Open the trunk lid.

2. Press the lock to disconnect the wiring harness connectors…

3….and bring the wiring harness out through the hole in the body.

4. Pry up the lower end retainer of the telescopic stop…

6. Using a screwdriver, remove the lower end of the telescopic stop from the ball joint.

7. Similarly, remove the upper end of the telescopic stop and remove the left stop.

8. Remove the right telescopic stop in the same way as the left one.

NOTE: If the telescopic stops do not require replacement, then to remove the trunk lid it is sufficient to disconnect only the upper ends of the stops from the ball joints.

9. If you are removing the trunk lid for purposes other than replacement, mark its position relative to the hinges, for example by tracing the hinges with a felt-tip pen.

10. Unscrew the two bolts securing the trunk lid to both hinges and remove the trunk lid.

11. Install the trunk lid and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
