- disconnect the wire from the "–" terminal of the battery;
- place the front of the vehicle on supports and drain the coolant from the cooling system (section 4.1);
- remove both hoses on the thermostat housing after loosening the clamps on the hoses;

- unscrew the screws on the thermostat housing, shown in Fig. 127, and remove the cover;
- check that the thermostat is installed correctly in the hole and remove it.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- check that the thermostat is installed correctly;
- fill the cooling system with coolant;
- warm up the engine and check the tightness of the system.
To replace the thermostat on a V6 engine:
- remove the battery;

- unscrew the engine trim in the places shown in Fig. 128 and remove it;
- drain the coolant from the cooling system (see section 4.1);
- disconnect the hoses from the thermostat housing and unscrew the thermostat housing;

- disassemble the thermostat housing (Fig. 129). To do this, unscrew both screws 1, remove housing 2 and take out thermostat 3.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- replace the thermostat seal with a new one;
- connect both parts of the housing and tighten the screws to a torque of 18 Nm;
- fill the cooling system with coolant;
- warm up the engine and check the tightness of the system.
