- disconnect the wire from the terminal «–» battery;
- place the front of the car on supports and drain the coolant from the cooling system (subsection 4.1);
- Remove both hoses on the thermostat housing after loosening the clamps on the hoses;

- Turn out the screws on the case of the thermostat shown on fig. 127 and remove the cover;
- check that the thermostat is installed correctly in the hole, and remove it.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- check the correct installation of the thermostat;
- Fill the cooling system with coolant;
- Warm up the engine and check the tightness of the system.
To replace the thermostat on a V6 engine:
- Remove the storage battery;

- Turn away facing of the engine in the places shown on fig. 128 and remove it;
- drain the coolant from the cooling system (see subsection 4.1);
- Disconnect the hoses from the thermostat housing and unscrew the thermostat housing;

- dismantle the thermostat housing (pic. 129). To do this, unscrew both screws 1, remove the housing 2 and take out the thermostat 3.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- replace with a new sealing ring on the thermostat;
- connect both parts of the housing and tighten the screws with a torque of 18 Nm;
- Fill the cooling system with coolant;
- Warm up the engine and check the tightness of the system.
