Replacing the coolant (Mondeo 2)

To replace the coolant in the cooling system:

- disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery;

- place the front of the car on supports;

- remove the protective screen under the radiator;

- with a cold engine, remove the expansion tank. With a warm engine, carefully remove the tank cap;

Warning: To avoid burning, be sure to place a thick cloth over the neck.

- to drain the coolant, unscrew the drain plug (Fig. 121). Place the container for collecting the liquid in the place shown in Fig. 122;

- after draining the liquid, tighten the plug;



- flush the system. Disconnect the lower hose from the radiator. Then insert the hose into the expansion tank and flush with tap water until it comes out clean from the lower branch pipe;

- connect the lower hose and secure it;

- lower the car;

- set the heater control to the "Heiss" (hot) position;

- prepare a mixture of 40% antifreeze and 60% water (add more antifreeze if you plan to operate the car at low temperatures) and carefully pour it into the expansion tank.

- check the coolant level and, if necessary, top up to the "Max" mark;

- connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery;

- start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature;

- if necessary, add coolant to the tank.
